Meet Jasper.
This lovely lad was brought to us at the shelter by a man who said he found him eating his chickens. The man also said that if we didn’t take him, he would dump him somewhere in the mountains. This poor dog was in a lot of distress and wasn’t so keen on being touched. After taking him in and getting him seen by the vet, he is asking for love and is walking on the lead. He had a cherry eye but it has now been operated on. We believe he has been abused is sensitive on touch in certain places but slowly slowly we will get his confidence up and also get him some friends. He was born 01-12-2018 and weighs 15 kilos and can be cat tested upon request.
Jasper has tested positive for Leishmania
Leish is a disease dogs contract through being bitten by a sandfly which only exists in Mediterranean countries. Leish is controlled by daily medication, with early detection and being aware of symptoms being key to ensure it can be kept under control, as well to treat any possible relapses later on in life. A dog with leish can live totally normal and happy lives with the right treatment and knowledge. Zante Strays support all of our leish dog adopters and will always offer support and guidance for as long as you may need it.
