Casper for Adoption
You may remember that Casper was rescued from the streets in a very bad condition by a volunteer in November 2023. He was extremely malnourished and probably would not have survived much longer. He also tested positive for leish. Two months on and he has recovered well and put on 7 kilos in weight. Now weighing 22 kilos, he still has a few more kilos to gain, but he loves his food and it won’t take long for him to get there! Casper is now enjoying the warmth and comfort of a foster home. He gets on well with the other dogs in the house, but he’s not keen on lively dogs or puppies! He enjoys a quiet environment and a steady pace of life. We would like to find Casper his forever home, where he can be warm, loved and happy for the rest of his life. He was born approx 2019.
He has tested positive for Leishmania (Leish), a disease dogs contract through being bitten by a sandfly which only exists in Mediterranean countries. Leish is controlled by daily medication, with early detection and being aware of symptoms being key to ensure it can be kept under control, as well to treat any possible relapses later on in life.
A dog with leish can live totally normal and happy lives with the right treatment and knowledge. Zante Strays support all of our leish dog adopters and will always offer support and guidance for as long as you may need it.
